It is
the director that is the brain behind any film. He can either make or break any
concept or the story to make it a huge hit or a super flop. The vision and
ideas of a director matters a lot in the making of a movie and when it is
subjected to a horror movie the director is the key factor in the development
of the plots. This section of the site focuses on some of the directors who
have made their niche in the horror movies segment. These directors have
created a whole new paradigm of the horror movies by their craft and the sense
of storytelling.
John Carpenter: He is an American Film director,
scriptwriter, and producer and has produced the films like Halloween
(1978), The Fog (1980), The Thing (1982), Christine
(1983) and more in the 1970’s and 80’s.
Wes Craven: Once again the master filmmaker from
the decades of the 1970s and 1980s. He also acted in some of his films and
received the best actor award for horror classic A Nightmare on Elm Street
(1984). Other prudent productions by him are Last House on the Left (1972), The
Hills Have Eyes (1977), and Scream (1996)
Dario Argento: He has made a place by the use of
the supernatural elements in "Giallo" along with the films like Deep Red (1975), Suspiria (1977), Inferno (1980) and Tenebre
(1982) on his accounts.
George A. Romero: He is the master behind the
creations like Night of the Living Dead (1968). Romero a leading name in the
Gore movies has made many super hits like The Crazies (1973), Martin
(1977), Dawn of the Dead (1978) and Day of the Dead (1985).
Sam Raimi: He is the man behind the movies like Evil
Dead series (1981) with Evil Dead II (1987) and Army of Darkness (1992) ). He also produced Drag Me to Hell recently a
couple of years back in 2009.
David Cronenberg: He is the father of "Body
Horror" with the leading movies like Rabid (1977), The Brood
(1979) and The Scanners (1981) in his list.
